A Christmas Kiss

We had been broken up for about 4 months. He called and wanted help picking out a Christmas tree. Everyone said not to go. I ignored them. I had been stood up that night by the guy I was dating. I was pissed and lonely and he called at the right time.

I have a friend who owns several Christmas tree lots. That's why he said he called me. I had helped out at the lots a few times and always professed to know what trees were the best. He hadn't bought a tree his first year in town. I felt like his wanting to buy a tree was a step in the right direction. Call me stupid but I jumped in the car and met him at the tree lot. I picked out a 6 foot Douglas Fir. We took the tree to his house. At this point, I said I was going home. He said he needed help decorating it. I fell for it.

I decided on a theme tree. He liked fishing so it was going to be a fishing tree. We went and bought all the items I needed to make the ornaments. I used bobbers for the Christmas balls. Lures made up many of the ornaments. We even had a fly fisherman as the angel. It took me 4 hours to make the ornaments and decorate the tree.

After the tree was decorated I said I really needed to get home. I remember it so clearly. We were standing in the doorway saying goodbye. He looked at me so sadly. So much was said in that look. Somehow we ended up in each others arms. His hands in my hair. Our lips almost touching. I breathed him in like it was the last breath I would ever take. Lightly he kissed me. He licked my bottom lip. Just the way he knew I liked it. Then he backed away. Leaving me wanting more. The smell of Christmas trees still makes me tingly.
